There's nowhere it's mentioned that BOI granted permission for South Asian Institue of Technology and 'Management' which is simply known as SAITM to start a medical school
(This is the written document through which they replied to the Health Ministry when they were asked whether any permission had been granted to start a medical school)

While i do not agree on offering an MBBS for an A/L failed student. Still there are doubts with the authenticity of these proof screens (not docs) provided by the anti SAITM movement. afaik they do not intake anyone without A/L. I know this by fact cos i have friends who wanted to get their kids in who had 2Bs without success. So i rest my case.

I dont have any legally signed docs to show you, you better contact Saitm. No surprise that you go in your friends way.

AFAIK almost all the developed countries maintain high standard in selecting students for medical collages
USA you have to score an average GPA of 3.4+ as well as get 30+ in MCAT exam. Yes you can't enter in to a med college even if you got a good GPA, You have to pass screening exam too. If you look in to the top ten medical colleges in USA, you will see the "mean" GPA of the students selected is somewhere around 3.8. That's how they maintain the quality of their health services.

We all played cricket when we were kids, and we all agree to the fact, that we lack the skills to become someone like, Chris Gayle, Sanath Jayasooriya, Virath kohli or ABD
We all agree to the fact, that although we could run, we can't just be as good as et least a sri lankan national medalist
But when it comes to the education, specially medicine, we all believe that we can become doctors, even though we couldn't perform well in the screening exam ie A/Ls
I personally believe these two culprits responsible for the "sub-standard health care system in srilanka" ( Yeah it's sub-standard quality wise, quantity wise, attitude wise )
    1. The higher education ministry and the government for not updating the minimum requirements to meet the present day needs. ( Those 3S would have been good for 60s & 70s. Those days even the island first got Cs & Ss)
    2. "A cup for everyone" society. It doesn't allow the child to embrace his/her weaknesses & strengths. We are giving everyone cups for participation, letting them parade from elementary to O/Ls ignoring that they are feeble in science & maths and ultimately we have made cry babies who are hallucinating that they can be anything, anyone :baffled::baffled::no::no::oo::oo:

Other doctors also kill patents all the time. No one takes responsibility. First of all, we need some strict rules to punish those doctors who kills patents. Not to ban private universities. Once the rules are in place, people who doesnt have enough confidence in their performance won't be entering to the industry. Hit or miss medical treatments should not be allowed.
