“This is an incredible time in mobile technology, and as a company we’re excited to add the Samsung Galaxy Tab to our portfolio,” said vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Marni Walden. “The Samsung Galaxy Tab brings together the reliability of Verizon Wireless’ 3G network and the power of Android 2.2 to deliver on our promise of providing consumers and business customers with a host of options to help manage their lives.”
The Galaxy Tab will be an important competitor for the iPad, which is the leader in the tablet market.
Among the most popular mobile applications that will be available in the Samsung Galaxy Tab are V CAST Music, V CAST SongID, VZ Navigator, Slacker, Kindle for Android, Blockbuster Mobile and the exclusive golf game “Let’s Golf”. In addition, the tablet will include other apps to manage text messages, photos, and videos. And, from the very beginning, the Samsung Galaxy Tab will include V CAST Apps, the Verizon Wireless mobile store that offers hundreds of apps for companies and individual consumers.
The Verizon Wireless customers will be able to add a monthly access plan with 1GB of data to their Samsung Galaxy Tab for $20 per month.
