The LankaNewsWeb reliably understands that Sri Lanka’s former master blaster Sanath Jayasuriya is behind the infamous Vimasuma ITN programme that accused vice captain of the national cricket team Mahela Jayawardene of match fixing.
Jayawardene is considering legal action against the state-run ITN television after it implied that Mahela and Thilan Samaraweera deliberately got out to fix the match for Pakistan’s advantage.
Angry over the non selection to the World Cup team, Jayasuriya has used his political clout as a government MP to instruct infamous Mahinda
Abeysundara to accuse the team of match fixing after Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 11 runs.
Abeysundara is the editor of state-run Dinamina newspaper which recently published a controversial article that condoms and womens’ underwear were found at the premises of Lanakenews website although everything including computers were burnt down at the office after an arson attack.
Abeysundara is well known for his mud-slinging campaigns –with filthy language- against human rights activists, pro-opposition journalists and peace campaigners.
It is also understood that Sanath Jayasuriya has promised Abeysundara a case of expensive liquor as well as other financial support had the campaign against the Sri Lanka team succeeded and team crashed out of the World Cup at the group stage.
