Senior cricketer Kumar Sangakkara has been invited to be the opposition's common candidate in the next presidential election, reports Minister Wimal Weerawansa's website ' Lanka C News'.
The particular invitation has been made at the tea party organized at the parliament to felicitate the victorious Sri Lankan team.
While Sangakkara was engaged in discussions with ruling and opposition party parliamentarians United National Party (UNP) MP Gayantha Karunathilaka has said " Now it is the time to enter the parliament'.
Agreeing with Gayantha MP Nalin Bandara has added “you are suitable to be the common candidate in next presidential election”.
Secret talks to field Sanga as common candidate
Meanwhile, 'Lanka News Web' website reports that a group of UNP bigwigs had engaged in a discussion at Hotel Hilton in Colombo to filed Sanga as the presidential candidate.
"Three bigshots of the UNP and a man who had crossed over to strengthen the hands of the president have had a secret discussion at a special room at Hotel Hilton while having a round of drinks to field popular and senior cricketer lawyer Kumar Sangakkara as the common opposition candidate at the next presidential election.
