Sarana Gunawardena remanded

Government Parliamentarian Sarana Gunawardena was remanded by courts today over an alleged child abduction case. The Gampaha District United People's Freedom Alliance MP had allegedly fired in the air and abducted a 12-year-old student after beating his father

The Chairman of Development Lotteries Board Mr.Sarana Gunawardena will be appointed to the SL Parliament to fill the vacancy that created with the demise of MP Anura Bandaranayake.
Mr.Gunawardena has contested for the Gampaha district as a UPFA candidate at the last general election held in 2004 and polled little more than 50,000 preferential votes. He is the highest votes getter in UPFA list next to Mr. Reggie Ranathunghe who was recently appointed to the SL Parliament in place of late MP Sripathy Sooriarachchi.
Mr.Sarana Gunawardena is a son of former PA deputy minister of health Lionel Gunawardena.
