Satellite TV in Sri Lanka

eventhough i dont watch tv that much ive got dialog tv, dish tv india and free to air receivers.

Thanks for opening a thread like this. I always find this topic really interesting.

Anyway, I have got the following, when it comes to Satellite and Pay TV........
* Dialog TV (Pay)
* Dish TV (Pay)
* C-Band 6ft. Rotable Dish / Eurostar Digital Reciever (FTA)

It's great to recieve international channels via Satellites.

You don't have to purchase a lisence to recieve free to air signals from Satellites (Birds).

But as someone else said, you can't produce and transmit signals from an equipment such as V SAT. It's illegal.

Talking about Satellites, ASIA SAT 3'S has the best English (FTA) channel line-up. And it owns a strong foot-print here in Sri Lanka. but it heavily depends on the size of your dish.

You can even recieve some local channels from the TV Lanka package which is hosted at ST1. It offers Rupavahini, ITN, EYE and Swarnavahini. There are no porn or adult channels available in Sri Lanka.

The Satellite HOT BIRD is not receivable in the southside of the country.

I got dialog tv... i bght it after i dl and installed that sat tv sftware whch says we can wtch over internet...
it was a crap....
so thght f gng to DTV....
one f my frnds got a sat connection from a shop at pettah!!!
he got a huge dish and sooo many channels...
but it worked only for two mnths...
like CBN sat...... we got super 500 package but its qte useless coz HBO and Hallmark is not there.... but all the list is there....like 45 channels..
so gonna change the pkge to full frm nxt mnth...

SET PLAN 13 - 4 Movie Channels (HBO Signature / HBO / HBO Hitz / HBO Family)

And just to let you know, they are going to launch a new set of channels very soon...

Really?? never heard f somethng like that...but for set plan we can only watch those 4 channels????

do anyone know a goot place to buy dishtv STB on kandy or Kurunegala...i mean a proper agent?is satnet good?
if not there will be a risk of locked sim

FTA is on hotbird..........got 64 channels...........i wanted to turn it over to receive more.......

well its like this machan. the normal satellite dish and a receiver[FONT=&quot][/FONT] to watch TV for free.
without those providers like Dialog TV etc...

as far as i knw... those channels u get 4 free is almost rubbish...
u can't get those good quality channels on those free dishes...
