President rejoices his younger brothers' survival form the brutal Terrorist attack Colombo today
The LTTE terrorists carried out a cowardly suicide bomb attack at the motorcade carrying Secretary of Defence Gotabaya Rajapakse this morning.
The explosion took place at 10:35 a.m. at Green path in Colombo when the motorcade was rammed by an explosive laden three-wheeler.
Sri Lanka Army commando soldiers who were in the escort successfully obstructed the dashing three-wheeler and dwindled the effectiveness of the explosion.
According to the available information 14 people including seven soldiers suffered injuries and were rushed to the General Hospital Colombo. Few of the injured have reportedly received serious injuries.
The Secretary Defence met His Excellency the president Mahinda Rajapakse at the Temple Trees following the attack.
Mr. Gotabaya Rajapakse was retired army infantry officer who had served more than 20 years in the Army mostly in the battlefield. He was the Commanding Officer of the 1st Gajaba Infantry Regiment which played a major role for the operation Vadamarachchi in 1987.
