Yeah. I have a Duron 800 plugged in it.
No problems at all. Dad got my old AthonXP 2600+, so now that PC is not used. (well, only the motherboard, CPU, PCI graphics card is in it )

Yeah, it supports DDR. It's all about the chipset. Just as there are motherboards for Socket 775 Pentium 4 CPUs with DDR as well as DDR2 RAM.

Read the motherboard manual if you want. The model of the motherboard is Gigabyte GA-7VA.
