Any ideas on how long a new mother board in original box and package can remain in a shop shelf ?
Sorry I may be asking a very broad question
let me try to explain my question.
What I want to know is this :
Lets say you bought a mother board in say 2010.
Most probably the mother board cpu ram etc are ones manufactured about that time - 2010 or 2009 etc.
Now in 2013, lets say mother board problem and need to find one with same spec.
As technology changes, mother boards available now won't support your old cpu and ram. If one is lucky, there might be a mother board manufactured recently 2012 or 2013 which has the same specs, but by some small company.
Alternatively some shop may have a few similar motherboard with matching spec, which have not been sold or which they have kept back for warranty claims and now clearing the stock etc, which is not used, in the original box, etc etc, but which has been manufactured in 2009 or 2010.
Only thing is, these have been in the shop shelf or their store room for several years.
Excluding problems like being physically damaged by some means, quality of mother boards from different manufactures etc ...
Do the components or the circuits on the mother board get damaged over time, when left unused for several years ?
... meaning, how long a new mother board in original box and package can remain in a shop shelf and still be ok to buy ?
... in other words, is a mother board manufactures in say 2009 and being in shop all these years ok to buy now in 2013 ?
(I hope my question is clear)
Pls gve ideas advice comments ...
Thanksa !!!
