All of my relatives are from the American south and some of them grew cotton with slave labor -- so it's not an ancestry to be so proud of. One thing that Southerners do pride themselves on are their good manners, but many of my southern relatives, including my father, are closed minded people and opposed to Barack Obama becoming president simply because he is of African descent. On the other hand, I can't wait to see him as our leader.

I don't know who is the better leader... Obama looks like so.
Yes, if your father rejects Obama because he is Black, it is wrong and stupid.
But if if you accept Obama just because he is black that too is equally wrong and stupid.
I feel more whites choose Obama like children do.. Just because Obama is black... as if they can correct the past mistakes of rejecting blacks.
If Obama wins because he is black and eventually fails, whites who are against him because he is black will blame his color more than his mistakes. They will say 'A black can never be a leader.."
But I think if he wins the machinery which helped Bush to run twice will help him too. It is not people make leaders anymore...
People are lured..to choose the rulers who are predetermined by forces behind the curtains. That happens in any country which has a commercial value.
Bad leaders like Mugabe runs for 30+ years. Do you think the majority likes him... He just proves so election after election... There are some who can't see the truth or ignore the truth for what they gain. The blind part of the society which help him bring down the majority toward hell day by day.
It is possible that the samething can happen in our country too.
