    Oct 16, Colombo: The police have arrested a Sri Lankan who scammed money claiming to have invented a vehicle to run on water instead of fuel.

    Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered the accused to be detained until October 28, 2008 after being charged for fraudulently taking money from an investor.

    According to Police sources, the accused M.A. Thushara Priyamal Edirisinghe who claims to have invented a system where a motor vehicle can be operated from water instead of using petrol or any other fossil fuel has reportedly obtained a sum of 1.1 million rupees from an investor, promising to further develop his invention.

    The accused has obtained the money claiming to import necessary spare parts from Singapore.
