A group of six Sri Lankans and two from the Seychelles were arrested yesterday while attempting to illegally leave the country for Australia by boat, police said today.
They said the group of eight was apprehended from a safe house situated on the beach at Beruwala, following information given by members of the public, police said.
Breuwala police are conducting further investigations.
