Internet service providers around the world are offering & testing higher speeds.

German cable company KDG is one such provider testing 1000 MBPS connections.

KDG currently offers a 100 MPBS home service for its customers.

“It will take several years until services and content will become available on the internet through which our customers will really be able to make full use of the performance capacity of 1 Gbps,” said Lorenz Glatz, Chief Technology Officer of KDG.

“If you take into consideration that the average bandwidth requirement of a household from 2006 to 2010 has increased by 500%, then the question is no longer whether, but when exactly this time will come. The cable network is already technically ready for it.”
