Sony Ericcsson K530i without memory stick. Is it possible to connect to a PC ??

i have a phone Sony Ericcsson k530i.
it doesn't have a memory stick. only the 14mb phone memory.
i tried to connect it to a PC. the PC detects the device but wont allow me to access.
i want to make sure that this is not a problem with the phone and will be OK once i put a memory stick.
