Attention has been drawn to the non-passage of buses transporting passengers, on the Southern Expressway.
The Sri Lanka Transport Board attributed this to the fact that the highway does not contain any lanes for buses to travel on.
Although it was decided that two buses were to ply the Southern Expressway on the 27th of last month, this decision was later changed.
The Sri Lanka Transport Board pointed out that there was no space or area on the highway to attend to a bus if a technical problem were to be faced.
A senior official at the SLTB noted that in such an event the vehicles traveling behind the bus will be inconvenienced.
He noted that although the bus fares were decided upon for travel on the Southern Expressway due to the said reasons no permission was granted for such travel.

දක්ෂිණ අධිවේගී මාර්ගයේ මගී ප්රවාහන බස් රථ ධාවනය නොකිරීම කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමුව තිබේ.
ලංකා ගමනාගමන මණ්ඩලය පැවසුවේ, පසුගිය 27 වැනිදා සිට බස් රථ දෙකක් ධාවනය සඳහා සියලු කටයුතු සූදානම් කර තිබුණ ද පසුව එම තීරණය වෙනස් කර ඇති බවයි.
අධිවේගී මාර්ගයේ බස්රථ ධාවනය සඳහා සුදුසු පරිදි මං තීරුවල ඉඩ නොතිබීම ඊට හේතුව බව ලංකා ගමනාගමන මණ්ඩලයේ උසස් නිලධාරියෙකු සඳහන් කළේය.
ඔහු පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ හදිසි අවස්ථාවක බස් රථයක් කාර්මික දෝශයකට ලක්වුවහොත් අධිවේගී මාර්ගයේ ඒ සඳහා නිෂ්චිත ඉඩක් නොමැති බවයි.
එවැනි අවස්ථාවක පිටුපසින් පැමිණෙන සියලු වාහනවලට අදාළ බස් රථය ගැටලුවක් වනු ඇති බව ඔහු පෙන්වා දෙයි.

So this expressway Only for Vehicle owners & Ministers.., NO benefit for Normal civilians in the country...,
that's too bad..since our country is still developing one..There are high % of normal people who haven't a vehicle or only have a bike.. so their only option is BUS.before they develop this highway they have to think about this..how to benefited normal people in the country from this highway. What are your thoughts....guys..
