Sri Lanka, ADB sign USD 100 million loan agreement for Greater Colombo Wastewater Management Project
The project aims to upgrade the sewerage infrastructure under the Colombo Municipal Council in the Greater Colombo Area and strengthen its institutional and operational capacity as well as to improve the project management and implementation capacity of CMC.
The funds will be utilized to restore the sewerage system with 17 pump houses in the area.
According to the ADB the project is designed to improve the urban environment and public health for the 1.5 million urban and suburban residents in the Greater Colombo area with better water quality and sanitary conditions. The government expects to complete the project by the end of 2014.
