We need a Strong Provincial Council. Sri Lanka should get rid of Munciple councils. Put the munciple council legislators (MMC) under Provincial Council. We do not see any good comming out of Mayors. Merge all districts under Provincial Councils. So develpment would go under fast track.
Muciple council under british rule is good since less population in districts. But now we need mega projects. Better development in Infrastructure. Why pay more munciple taxes for good for nothing muncipality. Road lighting can be given to RDA under provincial council. Garbage collection is going under private companies. UDA is managing prime land in the country.
Clinics of muncipality can be given to Health deparment or Provincial councils. Parks can be given to provincial councials.
Too much fighting in munciple council with unruly politicians in munciple councils.Too many uneducated people in munciple councils.
Munciple building permits are hard to get. More rules more legislation and too much red tape. Most of Buildings in Colombo do not get plan approved because of this and too much courruption.
Drainage is done by water deparment. Why charge for Munciple tax for good for nothing Munciplity.
