::::::::::::Sri Lanka President makes major changes in the military command::::::::::
July 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka President as the Commander-in-Chief has made several key changes in the military today promoting the Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka as the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) with effect from July 15th.
Major General Jagath Jayasuriya, the current Commander Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. He will take over as the Army Commander with effect from July 15th.
The Navy Commander, Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda has been appointed as President's National Security Adviser and the second in command of the Navy, Rear Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe has been promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral and appointed as the Commander of Navy from July 15th.
The current Chief of the Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Donald Perera is to retire on July 15th.
