Sri Lanka should opt for producing milk in mass scale. Cows should be in massive sheds at milk processing plants. The cows of small farmer should be made like shares in stock market. So small farmer would get revenue.
At the same time cost of production will come down. Milk prices would be cheaper. It would benefit both small farmer and consumers. Due to economies of scale. There would be less transportation cost of purchasing milk, cows feed would be cheaper because of whole sale purchase of feed. All veterinary inspection would be easier. There would be less movement of cows in these sheds and milk production will be high. The price of Milk will come down drastically.
That is why USA,EU and Middle East have lower price of milk compared to Sri Lanka.
