Fonseka to 'testify on war crimes'
Sri Lanka's former military commander says that he is prepared to give evidence in an international court on war crime charges against Sri Lanka.
General Sarath Fonseka speaking to journalists in Colombo on Monday said, "I am not going to save anyone who has committed war crimes".



International human rights organisations as well as the US state department has alleged that the Sri Lankan government committed war crimes during the final phase of the war against Tamil Tigers.



Several human rights organisations have called to try the Sri Lankan state in international courts on alleged abuses against civilians and surrendees.
During the presidential election where Gen. Fonseka challenged president Mahinda Rajapaksa, both claimed credit for defeating the LTTE.



"I am definitely going to reveal what I know, what I was told and what I heard. Any one who has committed war crimes should definitely be brought into courts," Gen. Fonseka said.



"Those who reveal the truth are not traitors" he added.

machan then you saying that White Van cluture is a good thing?
May be it's good for you but not for us.Inside the army there is
something called military law. Even the US have these kind of
issues during the vietnam war.But with them they are revealed.

I think we should let the SF to handle these things because he is the
leader and who is the responsible for this if something had happened.

If we protecting the criminals/murders/baby killers then do you think
they are our protectors?If they got the guilty how can they become
our protectors?There is a question in that side.

However this is a Sri Lankan Internal problem and we don't need US
or UN interaction to this.

SF is a military LEADER....he should protect his soldiers first.....

the list of military leaders who sell off the pride...sweat and blood shed by soldiers...for watever selfish reasons...are usually in the ranks of Iraqi or Russian generals...who sell such info to America...for personal gain....

Maybe SF sold us out for that American citizenship for himself and his family?.....or maybe his son-in-law who works in an AMERICAN weapons manufacturer?

you think its ok for SF to tell this to foreign media without even announcing it to sympathizing local channels first?!!?.....

why not release this info b4...and put a stop to these kinds of acts...back then....?!!?...why did he wait till he was into politics?!!?...
