That is how the modern liberalism work. It's very similar to what's happening in America. The liberals criticize the trump supporters as bible thumping rednecks but they give a free pass to Muslims, despite those two having very similar views. Because in modern liberalism you can only shame your 'tribe' for having the wrong views. If you do that to another 'tribe' you will be labeled as a racist.

I don't think majority subscribers to English news papers are Muslims. They are more of a cosmopolitan Colombo elite who would like to look down upon their their fellow Sinhalese peers for being 'ගොඩේ'. They like to feel superior in their liberal views but suffer non of the consequences.
