Santhush Weeraman of BNS fame got married to pretty Chanchala de Silva at a simple yet extremely elegant ceremony held at Cinnamon Grand Hotel on 18th December 2008.

In keeping with traditions; milk rice took the place of the cake structure with the table impressively decorated with beetle leaves. It was a very significant event as Santhush's father, Mr Nalaka Weeraman handed over to Santhush a sword that had been handed down from generations in the Weeraman family. This heirloom sword was used by the bride and the groom to cut the milk rice.

What is an event with BNS members present and without any song and dance? Bathiya and Santhush's music teacher Mary Ann David was at the wedding and she played for Bathiya to sing. By mid of Bathiya's song, bringing out the teacher in her, Mary Ann was singing along with Bathiya the way she sings with her students.

Sunil Perera was so totally himself, drowned the crowd in laughter and drew the crowd to the dance floor. Both Sunil Perera and Randhir were on stage with two versions of Ojaye. So which version were they to sing? Randhir wanted to sing Sunil version and they took the crowd through a very lively "original version of Ojaye" with Randhir joining in.

"This is a great re-union for BNS" said Bathiya. "All our members, old and new are here with us"

Then he got all of BNS family on stage - from their old member Nevanthi (you will remember her from Kiri Kodu Hithata video) and their newest member Umariya.

They went through "Pethu Pem Pethum" and Santhush enjoyed the song with the bride. Then Bathiya started "na na ne" and of cos, here Santhush was hugely missed by everyone. Surely Santhush felt it too because by middle of the first verse, in a few quick strides Santhush took to the stage and the crowd actually cheered. The way he sang and danced it was evident that he thoroughly enjoyed singing it (check out the photo)

The bride was stunningly beautiful. The couple was matching and very handsome. Those who cry at weddings wiped away tears - those who let their hair down, danced till they panted. The rain clouds hung above the sky of Colombo blocking the sun from irritating the beautiful couple, as Mr. and Mrs. Santhush Weeraman left Cinnamon Grand Hotel on their honeymoon.

Santhush and Chanchala, together with all BNS fans, we wish you both a very happy wedded life!
