Sri Pada: Sri Pada is a sacred site that has transcended boundaries between Sri Lanka's different religions. During the pilgrimage season, young and old, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu and Christian alike, all climb the steep, graceful mountain trail leading towards the summit.popularly known in English as Adam's Peak, is the 4th highest peak in Sri Lanka. However, the altitude is no damper to the thousands of pilgrims who climb the mountain in endless procession from December to May. But sadly Sripada environs are under threat due to human activities. The surrounding area known as Peak Wilderness & perhaps more important than Sinharaja considering its biodiversity. Garbage on Sri Pada has been a festering problem for many years now. Polythene and plastic odds and ends disposed of by visitors litter the mountain all the way, posing a long-term threat to the Peak Wilderness, one of the country’s pristine ecosystems ...
