COLOMBO (News 1st); If the spread of COVID-19 is to be prevented, the people must remain indoors and only step out for essential needs, stressed Sri Lanka’s State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle on Thursday (20).

She said a recommendation is in the works to confine the people to their homes for at least two weeks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“Asymptomatic COVID-19 patients may be in the community and spending too much time outdoors could expose you to the virus,” warned the State Minister.

The new COVID-19 variant detected in Sri Lanka has attributed to a rise in COVID-19 deaths, she added.

She said COVID-19 patients who are placed in isolation at their homes will be monitored constantly.
