Stranger Things is returning for a fourth season on Netflix and will likely now arrive in 2022 after disappointing news over the past few weeks. Production on season 4 is still ongoing with the series yet to wrap. Here’s everything you need to know about season 4 of Stranger Things so far, including production updates, what to expect, who’s returning, and some of the new faces you’ll be seeing in Hawkins.
The show really requires no introduction as one of Netflix’s biggest flagship shows that first arrived on Netflix (at the time without a huge amount of fanfare) in July 2016.
So, let’s get to it. Here’s everything you need to know on Stranger Things season 4 last updated in September 2020.
When did Stranger Things season 4 get renewed and when will it release?
Official renewal status: Renewed on September 30th, 2019.After a few days worth of teasing leading up to September 30th, 2019 Netflix finally confirmed that Stranger Things would be returning for a fourth season.
In addition, Netflix has signed a multi-year deal with The Duffer Brothers. This deal is on top of the one Netflix already has with Shawn Levy who is a producer on the show.
The announcement of season 4 came accompanied by a video that had the caption: “We’re not in Hawkins anymore”.
Despite a 2021 date thrown around the most, it’s highly unlikely we’ll see season 4 arrive this year. Instead, Finn Wolfhard signaled in a fan video that the show should “hopefully” return “next year” meaning 2022.
This 2022 release date will be disappointing to many, however, with significant production delays it’s was somewhat inevitable.
