The student was from Pothuhera, Kurunegala. Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara confirmed the incident and said that the shooting had taken place inside the university. The body is due to be removed to the Valachchenai hospital. Police and TMVP cadres have visited the scene of the incident.
