I'm just proposing some ideas here for your kind consideration.
1. Implementation of rate limits for users.
Background:
I've seen some users flooding the homepage with attention-seeking threads that don't add any value to the community. It sure helps the OPs fulfill whatever they are looking to gain (just attention, in my opinion), but the constant spamming does harm the site's value and reputation. I guess this causes a loss of returning visitors, due to spam, making the website uninteresting for first-time visitors or visitors that come through search engine results.
(i) newly created accounts, Category 1
(ii) legacy accounts, Category 2
(iii) Accounts with a phone number that is associated with more than one ElaKiri account, Category 3.
The logic and actual rate limits should be decided by the administration after examining the data and observing certain user behaviors and patterns. I'm just presenting an idea here.
2. Implementation of a mandatory NSFW checkbox.
ElaKiri has always been a go-to place to discuss many things, and sometimes, they are adult-themed topics, which I found to be very interesting at times, even thought-provoking when I was just a teenager visiting the site.
However, if threads could be marked by the starter as NSFW or not before being posted, that could be extended as a feature to allow registered users to opt-out of being served them. This is useful for those who visit the website in public spaces and at work.
3. Adopting a new favicon that reflects the overall theme of the website.
I remember how the current favicon was selected, through a contest; however, I see that it is extremely outdated and does not match the look and feel of the present website.
4. Allowing the use of Google fonts on the website through the editor.
Google offers the Abhaya Libre font, created by the Font Master, Mr. Pushpananda Ekanayake. This font comes with 5 font weights. This font is modern and much better than the Nirmala UI or Iskolapota that is typically found on most devices. For a better user experience, embedding the Abhaya Libre and allowing it to be selected would be a great thing.
5. Limiting features for dupe accounts with a phone number associated with more than one ElaKiri account.
I personally feel that some users may create multiple accounts to annoy or discourage other community members from expressing their views by using negative reaction bombing features such as liking and reacting to posts. Imposing such limitations would not harm their ability to stay anonymous, but it would be a small price to pay for using an alias.
