Hey Presanth

Where do you do MMA? Only place I know in SL is on Lauries road in Bamba.

BTW on the topic of nutrition a balanced diet will provide you all the nutrition you need. For example you need less than 1 gram of protein per Kg body weight. So for the avearge man a piece of chicken breast will give you enough protein for the day. So no need for whey protein unless you have a protein deficient diet. Also high fat / cholesterol diets will cause arteriosclerosis and kill you in the long run.

@ Kalana..
Appreciate your thoughts and comments mate! However I cannot scientifically agree with your statements:(. :(An average person needs a minimum of about 150gs of protein in a daily basis ( Daily protein need in grams = Lean muscle mass in Kg x 2.75). An average chicken breast contains around 25-30gs of chicken. If you ask me, building muscle with a single chicken breast a day is pretty unlikely! You would never need any supplements if you can easily achieve this protein target with solid foods. However, most of us have to use a whey shake to make this protein target an easier one to reach!
I do not believe that high cholesterol diets causes arteriosclerosis. In fact cholesterol promotes growth hormones and helps build muscles..YES..it's a natural thing! What you are saying is not completely false..a high cholesterol diet with a HIGH CARB diet is the killer! That's what causes arteriosclerosis. So please avoid carbs and eat loads of fat! YES..I said FAT!!!
Just to prove this to you..name 10 foods our ancestors or cave man (proper humans) ate. Aren't they all loaded in fats, cholesterol and protien? Aren't they low in carbs?? Did they suffer from arteriosclerosis then? Think about it folks...:)

Eat right and train right

Cheers

Iroshan:cool:

PS - I do about 25 full eggs a week.. I use benefits of cholesterol to promote growth hormones!

Dunno where you get your info from buddy but it sure is counter to safe medical advice. If you don't beleive me on protein intake or fat just google it or look it up in a physiology text book.

Agree though reducing carbs especially high glycaemic food will help you loose weight.

Also Iroshan you are probably still a young twenty something guy. You can abuse your body a lot at this age. But you better change your crazy eating habits or trust me you will do a lot of harm to your self in the long run.

@ Kalana..
I believe you are a medical student from your comments mate. Btw your opinion is unfortunately the opinion of most people and also of the medical community as well ( its insane! :( ). Well we've been doing low-fat diets for a few decades now has our cardiovascular health or diabetes status improved?? It's getting worse and worse. This diet is wrong my dear friend ( It was improvised on wrong data and has a long history behind this). Dr. Atkins New diet revolution proves it all! ( I dunno why the medical community hate him so much.... for speaking the truth?? and backing it up with pure simple science? )
I'm also a big believer of Low-Glycemic dieting. But for unlimited calorie consumption purposes I stay on ketosis (low-carb).. it really works and I'm loving it!
( I do less than 25gs of carbs a day)

Cheers

@ Kalana again...
Thanks for your concerns my friend. I really appreciate it. Yes I'm in my twenties..so i can take that. But what about all the humans who've been doing this diet for thousands of years??? Did they die by diabetese? High cholesterol?? Well look at our new improvise diet which hasn't even got an history of 100 years? What have we got now?? We got health issues that we had never faced as humans ever! All because of Low-fat diets!

Dunno about lifting weights but we train MMA and our fighters are getting ready to fight overseas. None of us use supplements. There simply is no need. Our average weight is 80 kg with our heaviest over 100kg. Also Ill bet we do more catabolic excercise than you guys could ever dream off.... Think boxing/kickboxing/wrestling/jujitsu plus cardio. If you dont believe me come down to 25 Lauries road Mon/Wed/Fri. Cheers.

I appreciate your comments Gamerz. However, since I'm a natural bodybuilder, I strongly discourage the use of steroids! I don't think you need any steroids to get into decent shape.. For me, I'm not planning to or want to build big as Ronnie Coleman anytime soon. Therefore to get ripped with defined muscles, I will remain in my natural diet with NATURAL supplements.
Also again I still do not believe that a single chicken breast is sufficient to cover the daily protein intake. And yes... Whey protein so far the fastest acting amino acids we could easily find and best suited as a post workout shake! :D

    Cheers Buddy

Thanks for the info Kalana..really appreciate it mate!
I think for some reason your getting my idea wrong! I NEVER mentioned that supplements are a MUST to build or maintain muscle mass. It's just simply a convenient tool to reach daily calorific and protein needs. It's totally up to that person to take it or not depending on his own diet plan. Also for your info catabolism occurs when,

    1. You are below your daily maintenance calories with a HUGE deficit ( more than a deficit of around 750 cals)

    2. You are not getting the minimum amount of your daily protein needs (daily protein in gms = lean body mass in kg x 2.75)

So if both of those points are going on well, there shouldn't be any reason for your fighters to lose muscle mass. Also, body weight isn't a very good way of monitoring your muscle building progress as it doesn't point out how much muscle or how much fat you are actually carrying!
Anyway, I'm really glad to hear about your MMA fighters and I wish them all the best and success. Thanks for the invitation mate but I'm currently based in Male' so won't be able to witness your boys!:(

    Cheers

Problem with you Iroshan buddy is that you seem to live by the saying "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing"

    Catabolism

    http://straighthealth.com/pages/articles/sarticles/avoiding-catabolic-states.html

    This defines catabolism:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catabolism

    http://facstaff.unca.edu/cschrade/BF_anabolic_and_catabolic_states.htm

By the way next time you feel like talking out of your ass - DONT.:frown:

    Cheers

    @ Kalana...
Anything that makes you feel happy mate! I've just been researching on this topic for ages and made myself a guinea-pig until I realized the truth which of course is backed by science! I'm willing to learn from anybody as long as they provide adequate info to support the theory. I think many people fail to learn thing cuz of their own ego!:(
Thanks for the links you've sent and I don't see any major conflicting ideas of from what I have stated and from what your links have stated! However, I do not agree with their idea of glucose and sports drink usage.
In addition to that , as you have said, all my ' little knowledge' has done me a world of wonders...So I'm not too concerned about what I have left since I'm progressing! But I will keep learning.... lot's more to learn...LOTS

    Cheers buddy
