RAMESWARAM: The Tamil Nadu police have launched a search at Dhanushkodi and surrounding areas, after a tip-off that arms could have been brought aboard the five abandoned bullet riddled boats found along the coast in the last few days.
Ramanathapuram District SP Senthil Velan said the search had been ordered following information that the occupants of the boats could have brought arms and ammunition and buried them on the sea shore.
Over 50 policemen, led by DSP Radhabhai, are involved in the search, police said.
Meanwhile, an unidentified body was found washed ashore here Thursday morning. This is the fifth body washed ashore near Rameswaram in the last few days.
