I think its dependant on the browser; whether it supports unicode or not I guess. You can usually set it.

Ok I checked on Firefox and IE, most of the available encoding types allow usage of east asian symbols.

Neon if you are using Firefox
1. Go to View -> Character Encoding
2. Choose Western ISO-8859-1

In IE
1. Go to View -> Encoding
2. Choose Western European ISO

This happens to be my default settings and they work fine. but there seems to be a problem in viewing under above settings from a linux machine :( anyone know anything?

Yeah seems its the OS as well. (Which makes more sense). Try changing the encoding to Chinese (traditional or extended) if it asks to install a language pack, it means your OS cant render the font. (This is based on Windows only, i guess it gives a similar message in other OSes)
