President appoints Mahinda Balasuriya as the New IGP
Prresident Mahinda Rajapaksa has appointed senior DIG Mahinda Balasuriya as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), the government information department quoted the Presidential media unit as saying. Balasuriya replaces Jayantha Wickramaratna who retired as IGP on Saturday.

Msybe the outgoing IGP is going to be made a Governor or an Ambassador for his servility to the politicians.

Every single police officer should be sent for psychiatric evaluation and and they should be continually subjected to counselling ,therapy etc.

Lets hope this new IGP will take the police to a new level. If you ever read this please try to understand that police have become the second most hated section after the governing politicians. If you and the president can bring in a new law for the recruitment of new police officers, that would be great. Please make 03 passes in the Advanced level mandatory. Recruiting people with poor educational qualifications is one of the reasons the police force are corrupted and inhuman. Please take torture out of the Sri Lankan police force.

Dear IGP, As a Gentleman try to deliver justice to the public and clean-up the muck out of your department.I think that before enforcing law and order to the general public, it is top priority to implement the law to you subordinates and be an example to the public. Firstly ensure that public are not simply assaulted using the uniform power.You at least try to firmly command the Police and take punitive action against any policemen who does any act to harm the public.

Who cares.The one who comes is invariably worse than his predecessor.If we are to go by that, we the public can expect darker days ahead, especially one must not forget that this IGP will be in office during both elections.
