hi all , think about that you wish to travel to another country by a plane.
Oky you come to the air port and just sat down until your plane .

you just open your notebook -computer but it says kernel error ! well you probablly just close the laptop or just restart it.

But what about you seen a blue screen of death in a place like this inside the
Air port ???? or sometimes inside the plane ???? :sorry:

    WindowsBlueScreen.jpg

    or
    AirportScreen.jpg

    or
    boeing777.jpg

what you going to do ????

cancel your ticket and go home ????
    Think again ???

Do you going to bet your life on Microsoft technologies ???? or some Sun technologies.

Those companies are dealing with human lives and that is correct !
    :growl:

on the ari plane there are no ALT + CTRL + DEL keys on that keyboard.
typically that's there not a keyboard. But the operating system is Microsoft windows. May be microsoft windows embedded !

But the problem is I have to check my email before I die !

oh come on man people at sun micro didnt make much aside from java and with java lagg comes its not their fault the idea of a VM on top of the OS wont be fast as the native programs so what do u think? make planes/airports lag or just let m$ do what they have been doing for a long time or shift to newer and better linux kernel based OSes

my idea is not to use these kinds of complex software for these kind of critical
things. For a example a QNX like operating system is just only an RTOS and it's simple. and tested more times .

I think QNX is the better solution.

well microsoft and the java is all for the top of complexity and they are surely failling and they even do not gurantee the real time behaviour.

the good thing is using a real time operating system like QNX for this.

As far as i know in fligt when it comes to software its not using windows and also control system is working using more than three pc s for a single task

yes most of the time they don't use the windows , they are using the QNX operating system. But sometimes some planes use microsoft windows embedded. But think about those air-traffic controlling systems , they are also critical. They are using microsoft windows XP , nothing new !

So what you do if there is a error message like windows kernel error page fault is shown on a screen on a air port where they put the filght details and wheather information. what you going to do ???? Don't your heart get beated ????

what are you going to say man .... ya probablly we are dead !
even you will never got a chance to send your last email for your loved once cos there are no ALT+CTL and DEL keys on that computer. :P

anyway linux is cannot used for the RTOS applications , well I agree with your idea that linux is more stable than the windows. But it's also complex operating system
    .
