The government should stop taxing everyone over the age of 18!!!!!!!!!!!

The government is trying to tax every one over the age of 18 with tax. They are checking their bank accounts etc. They should reduce number of ministers and get rid of loss making state owned enterprises in public sector. We do not need big government. The government should stop screwing people left and right. We do not care how much government taxes direct or indirect tax. Let the taxation be as it is. This taxation will lose election if it sticks to this. People of this country cannot meet the cost of living in this country. Now the government is trying to bring back srima government in 1970s before Jr. Jawardana. We should vote Mahindha in next election

Yes, people should protest, specially on this bank account inspection thing.

All govenment ministers and PMs have billions in their bank accounts and taxing on small peoples savings.

I think first they should simplify the tax procedure. Then go for more taxpayers. Right now its a mess that feeds tax consultants.
And i think threshold for IC should be increased at least to 1.5 million. Nowadays you need atleast 100k to run a family + pay loans in SL.

what do you expect ? this is the only way they know to make money. when foreign governments make profit making ventures to generate income lanka is mostly surviving by taxing people and sending women abroad to wash dishes. apart from selling countries assets and taxing people what other profit making ventures lanka is running ? the biggest question is how many percentage of this money they will pool in to public service ? this is like gangsterism! a gangster will collect money from shops for his survival promising the shop owner that he will give protection in exchange. the real fact is the gangster needs the shop owners money more than the shop owners security requirement.

I think cost cutting should start from parliament, and cabinet. As a small country with a 22M population, we don't have to have world's biggest cabinet. Then all the local governments, including provincial councils are just a burden too.
But I agree with the tax file number for every person over the age of 18. People who argue against this, not make any credible points, just a scare campaign. Someone in JVP even said this tax file number project over 18 s is a world's first, and not any country in the world had such a thing. It's actually the opposite, all the developed countries issue a tax file number as soon as a youth reach the age of 18.

Most of developed countries have high taxes for the income. It is OK for them because They have high income, comfortable high end life style. Sri Lanka not have any of these. Seem like it is becoming harder day by day living here. More dangerous for next generation. Time to leave this country. No any options
