Well good for SL, it worked out that way!!

Its not that easy to change the details if you scramble it!!
Even if you did... you'll end up changing details only in the chip!!
If you wanna make it effective you'll have to HACK in to their main DB!!
Which is next to impossible!!

There is another problem though.... I saw in the card lot of information has been printed!! I don't see any sense of having info on the card written there while the main purpose of the card being digitizing into into the chip!

Maybe the compulsory info such as NIC No. / Name / DOB is OK but putting heaps of printed info will kill the whole purpose of digitizing it!!

Most probably this is because SL police and other authorities still does not have the required technology to check the authenticity of the card via a on board reading device in their police car or bike!

Oh! and I guess this makes SRI LANKA the first country in South Asia to adopt this technology!!!

Hmmm.... good question!! When couple of years back here in Malaysia they issued a digitized NIC, and people were given deadlines to come and change their old laminated IC to the new smart IC!

And I'll tell you..... It was massive queues as you would expect!! You can expect the same!! but that's people's part!!!
