The so called "free education" has limited the percentage of graduates/ skilled labor

The so called "Free Education" has reduced the percentage of graduates/ skilled labor in the country.

We too have taken part in protests against private universities, when we were undergraduates. But, by now, with age maturity, our understanding says that what we believed was not entirely correct.

The state sector can afford to give free education to a small percentage of the population. (Graduates in Sri lankan population is very less) But when we look into the statistics of a western country like UK or United States, they have a comparatively significantly larger percentage of population, who have at least a bachelor degree. The important fact is that, these countries do not have a free education.

What I'm trying to say, is not to stop free education. But, constructively when thinking for the country (I'm not political), having only free education significantly reduces the percentage of skilled labor. But, if we can allow bot free education plus private universities, we could increase the countries productivity through increasing the skilled labor. (currently we are, most of the time, exporting unskilled labor, which has devastating disadvantages)

at the same time, I forgot this part.
Countries like India is using Educational tourism and health tourism as a major income source. Hope we too can adopt same principles in generating income for the country.

"FREE" education in the sense what we actually don't have.
We can't educate our selves "freely". If I did a private digree govenment uni graduates will look at me in a different angle. Most of the government uni stereotypes have this idea that anyone who didn't get their degree from a local uni are "STUPID". Nothing but that's exactly what they think of others. But the truth is private graduates are sometimes does a better job in their fields of work than maybe a local graduate. ultimate truth is that. Sri Lankan universities are not even among the top 2000 world rankings. But most private graduates get their qualifications from well known top ranking universities.
