As you already aware, their is false claim by tamil extremists and their supporters suggesting that the north and east of lanka at one point was a tamil kingdom or be it region. Most today know this is a lie and falsehood.

To understand this falsehood, one must know and be aware of how the tamil people came here.

Many inc our own sinhala people have backed this for their personal gains, be it financial or other.

    Part 1....

    FAKE LIST!!

    Kulingai Cakravarti (1215 - 1255)

    Kanakasooriya Cinkaiariyan (1440 - 1450)
    Sapumal Kumaraya (Kotte Kingdom) (1450 - 1467) *
    Kanakasooriya Cinkaiariyan (1467 - 1478)
    Singai Pararasasegaram (1478 - 1519)
    Cankili I (1519 - 1561)

    Cankili II (1617-1619)*
Phelipe de Oliveira (Portuguese Empire) (1619-1627)

This is the list of false kings made up by eelamists, the Portuguese who arrived in Ceylon in 1505 give the most detailed and accurate account of what happened and obviously of Jaffna.

The names I can confirm are the ones with stars on.

The 1st King of Jaffna was Sapumal and was appointed by the Kotte, before that the Kotte kings had given first Vidana(Stewards) then Modeliyars(Businessman) to look after the port and its business. As their was NO settled population at that time and so NO agriculture and revenue was by international trade.

It was around late 1400's that Sapumal was sent to sub due a Modeliyar who had become too powerful.

After Sapumal, it was then that the Arya Chakrawathi came not in 1215, as the eelamists claim.

In fact it was a person called Arya Chakrawathi, that became king, after slaying the kotte kings appointed. He was the first to challenge the authority of Kotte.

Below are the rulers as the Portuguese records state:

    Sapumal-1450
Arya Chakrawathi-Apparently they originated from Gujarat and was of Royal line. They traded with jaffna and became so close that he married a princess from the royal house. More than likely of Sapumal.

    Then Portuguese arrive in 1505.

    Cachim Neyra*
    ?? Portugese installed puppet
    Cachim Neyra*
    Pera Puli
    Perea-Rajera-Pandara
Xaya Raya(Not sure if he was a king)
Pera Rajera Chegara till 1615 then Hariqur Jari Pandara(Portuguese appointed Govenor), his brother Peleleya Pandara assisting. Both them killed by Cankili supporters.

Also it must be pointed out that only ONE Cankili existed NOT two as extremists claim.

    Changali(Cankili) Cumara-1615

    * Same person.

    ----------

    Special note:

The Portuguese state quite clearly that Jaffna was under the rule of Rajasinhe I - 1593.

Also is of interest the fact the Cankili and Portuguese signed a peace treaty, this is written in Portuguese and Sinhala. One must ask if this was a Tamil Raj, then why write such an important document in Sinhala and not in Tamil??

    ----------

Then around 1634 after Cankili was captured and sent to Goa, his nephew(Metegal??) escaped with two princesses to Mannar. From here a msg was sent to the Nayar king of Tanjore for assistance in retaking Jaffna. After gaining support, he left Mannar for Kandy. This would certainly be an odd thing to do if Jaffna was an Independent kingdom. The king of Kandy had agreed to help and the two princesses were married off to the royal household in Kandy. After this on his return bk to Jaffna, he was captured and last record states he put in scakles and given to the church.

This did not end the plot, the king of Kandy wanted the Portuguese out and with knowledge of help from Tanjore a man named Attapattu was sent to deal the blow against the Portuguese but this failed and he was caught and beheaded. Thus ends the story of jaffna, not kingdom but province.

    Part 2....

The tamils of today are 99% are arrivals during the British era. The "Colbrooke Commission 1833" states clearly the need to settle tamils in uninhibited areas to create an exclusive tamil region. As Jaffna fit that bill, they settled thousands of tamils brought over for rail and road construction their.

The "Colbrooke Commission of 1833" state clearly that their are NO settled communities in the Jaffna peninsular but a migrant one. They have their homes in India but come over to do fishing and then back to India.

That is how a large tamil community appeared in Jaffna. In the east slightly different story. Emerson Tennet in 1840 wrote letters to the Colonial Office London saying that the from Kandy to Trinco all people have been gotten rid and that the east has no tamil communities and can be ready for settlements.

The reasons behind for this is stated as "a check community".

The tamil people are here to watch and keep a look out on actions of the Sinhalese people, basically!! You see in the Uva and Matale uprisings it was the tamil community that stood with the British and killed Sinhalese people. Not much different from today!!

That my friends, is how and why the tamil arrived in Ceylon(Sri Lanka)
