Thilanga Sumathipala, the UPFA Chief Minister candidate for Western Provincial Council

Thilanga Sumathipala is to be nominated as the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Chief Minister candidate for the Western Provincial Council in which an election is anticipated at the beginning of next year. Sumathipala is to be named as the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) electoral organizer for Kotte before it, said SLFP sources.

Sumathipala who was victim of wrath of the authorities one time has now built up strong relationships with them. The President is also very keen on the victory of Sumathipala and he has directed former Colombo Mayor and former Western Provincial Councilor Karu Jayasuriya to take actions to hold into power in the Western Provincial Council.
