A group of thugs who had arrived yesterday at about 6.30 p.m. in a vehicle without number plates at the residence of Lalith, a supporter of the JVP, has threatened the occupants with death and damaged the house near ‘three bridges junction’ at Pelawatta.
At the time the thugs had come only Lalith’s mother Mrs. Somawathie had been at home. The thugs had broken into the house, threatened her with weapons and had told her to tell Lalith not to paste any posters of Gen. Fonseka and if they catch him pasting any posters he would be killed.
The thugs then had smashed the windows and other household goods and on their way back have threatened Raja, another JVP supporter.
After making a complaint police officers have taken statements from the victims.
