Wanni Tigers threw a hand grenade at army soldiers posted near the Oddamavady People’s Bank in Valaichchenai, Batticaloa around 1.45 p.m yesterday (08). The forces had to show restraint and desisted from counter attack as the explosion of the grenade occurred in a crowded location. One soldier on duty was wounded and he was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
Troops were compelled to refrain from retaliating since the place was fully crowded at the time of the grenade attack.
The Tiger assailants however have fled the scene through the crowd that had been there at the time of the explosion.
The SLMM was informed.
The Valaichchenai Police are conducting investigations.
