How to get out of the Internet vicious cycle.
Forums and Internet IRC chats are commonly known to have a vicious cycle. The cycle is as;
Internet-----> Online People---> Find it better than your lonely real world------> waste time and money--------> life is ruined -------> Back to step 3.... and the cycle continues.
so, I guess as per the PM's I got, you guys & girl are stuck in this cycle.. and you all find it hard to escape from it. ??
The only advice I can give you on this is;
DO not WASTE time on internet. SPEND it
Now, Shaggy took a easy path out of my suggestions in his 21000 thread. But bro, read your reply again and see what you have told me. You just implored your self of EXACTLY what I said about you. Lonely. Time wasting. Useless Internet Jerk. And I must not let pass you the comment of "YOU HAVE A BIG EGO" which is utterly useless.
And bro, if you have sent 21K replies in 11 months.. that's at a rate of 95 replies per day on a 20 working day month.
that into 4 minutes per message / and browsing the forum means you have wasted 47 SOLID working hours per month. Which would have been utilized wisely for the development of this country
if you just do a calculation, you have simply wasted 65 days of the last 11 months on this forum
And I am not surprised as to why this country is not seeing any development.
Moving on........... guys and girls, please understand that forums and internet at large is nothing but a world of virtual reality. Though I am not snubbing my nose off the list here, I have also wasted a good part of my life on the Internet
. and mind you chaps, I have been logged into this world for the last 14 years (started from Apra) whilst you Sri Lankans weren't even not aware of what a Computer is let alone about internet.
Moving back to my original statement. "HOW can you get out it"

The people who are constantly logged into the internet and keep on posting bullcrap on forums are nothing by egoistic upright monkeys. And simply jerks who has no life outside a computer. Did you ever stopped for a moment and thought about "WHY" you are here? why are you so "HOOKED" into this forum?
Simple. you are trying to get away from a harsh realities of "real" life. Why do you try to be a MACHO man in the forum ? Simple. cause you are skimpy "un-noticeable" character in real life. You just want to impose your Macho mania attitude on others and get a "kick" out of it
Why do you Send your poems to this forum?, but why can't you just send it to the papers of your local area?. why here? Simple.
Because no one in reality simply appreciate you.
I was going through this forum and came upone this "MAGIC CHAP" (dude. just for you = I have met David Copperfield for real
) and did you guys ever noticed that though he's a loved and a respected character in this group, he never over does him self in posting replies, or trying to out do another poster? WHY? simple. because he is loved and cherished by people other than in virtual reality.
As per Admins of a forum, you have a great responsibility to make sure that your users do not waste their time on the internet. Although you can argue on the judgment point that "What they do is of no business to me", yet, you should have the MORAL responsibility to make sure your users are actively "Spending" their time on your forum than to "waste" it.
Suggestion for Admins
Although I am not fammilier in this part of the world. Back at my place, forum admins are usually loved characters in the real world, who organize charities, parties, etc etc. We usually collect about 100 pounds a month
So. why not you Admins, take charge? create a bank account, ask your members to chip in atleast 100 bux per month. And do some community project. Last month My fa-in-law gave a lunch for some war effected children at a place called "Ratmalana" which costed him around 5000/- bux.. but it was really worth it
Why don't you guys organize something like that? TO GET your users out of their internet world and meet up for real ?
Or why don't you guys organize a party? a Bash ? for the guys and the girls? (heck. back there we have a girl name "devilwoman" who really rides a harly to work
..she usually organized strip parties
.) though it may be a bit Anti-cultural of SL, why not do something moderate each month?
Admins of a Forums are NOT SUPPOSE to be SITTING DUCKS
And for users... how do you get out of it?
1. MAKE some real life friends.
2. Every time you feel like logging into the forum.. forget it, go out and have a smoke. or (for all your MAN bodies but women genes - nonsmokers) go out and have a coffee. And for girls... er. DUH ! . I duuno. apply lipstick or call your guy for some phone sex or something..
3. Stick to a RULE.
ONE POST PER THREAD. no matter how damn interesting the thread is. if you have stated your reply. DO NOT REPLY again. that way, you will cut down the time your waste.
4. Keep your self out of the forum for one day. see if you can do it. If you did. then activily engage in the forum on the next day
. and do not log in for two days after.
see if you can work that up to a week. Will do a great Help
5. Remove your self from the form

One said, that he can't express his thought because problems might come.
. dude.. just type "forums" on google and see how many BIGGER and ACTIVE forum there in this world. Thus. just be your self chap. If you feel like saying something in public. "SAY IT" be true to your self on the NET, then you will see that bridging the gap between reality and virtual seems less and less.. and one day you will realize that this FORUM is just a "thing" not "THE THING"
My good friend Brian Behlendorf once told in a meeting (ok. for those chaps don't know him, he's considered the GOD of Apache server) about internet. here it is.

So.. pull out in time to save your selves groupies.. or as I suggested, Admins can make this forum a worthwhile place by making your users actively participate in things which are "real" .
THEN.. and THEN only. you can really post someone's name and say "Good work bro, congrats for your great contribution towards this forum" .... not like you gummy bears do now just congratulating for the number of posts.
I am expecting 4 things from this post
1. Faggot ass BIG headed EGO monkey ADMIN will remove me and the post
2. You will all bash me like HELL. (which I don't mind)
3. You will all talk about it and do something worth while "like arranging a charity" (I really hope you guys do something worthwhile)
4. Silence. (confirming what I said was true.but scared to talk in open)
