World Blood Donor Day 2010

The 2010 global campaign focuses on Young Donors, with the slogan "New blood for the world". It hopes that a new generation of idealistic and motivated voluntary unpaid blood donors will form a pool that provides the safest blood possible for use wherever and whenever it is needed to save life. In events and activities around the world, youth will be the focus of the day.

ලෝක රුධිර දායකයන්ගේ දිනය අදට (14) ට යෙදී ඇත. ලෝක සෞඛ්‍ය සංවිධානය ජුනි 14වදා දිනය ලෝක රුධිර දායකයින්ගේ දිනය ලෙස නම් කර තිබේ. ‘යොවුන් ඔබෙන් ලොවට රුධිරය’මෙවර තේමාව වන අතර ලෝක රුධිර දායකයන්ගේ දිනය සැමරීමේ ජාතික උත්සවය සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතාගේ ප්‍රධාන්තවයෙන් අද (14) පෙරවරුවේ නාරාහේන්පිට ජාතික රුධිර මධ්‍යස්ථානයේදී පැවැත් වේ.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සිටින රුධිර දායකයින් නොමිලේ රුධිරය ලබා දීම විශේෂත්වය ලෙස දැකිය හැකි අතර දැනට පවතින රුධිර පරිත්‍යාගගීලීන්ගේ ප්‍රතිශතය ඉහළ නැංවීම ද රජයේ අරමුණු වේ.

ස්වේච්ඡා රුධිර පරිත්‍යාගශීලීන් ඇගයීමේ වැඩසටහන් ද දිවයින පුරා ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට ද නියමිතය.

දේශීය හා අන්තර් ජාතික වශ‍යෙන්ද මෙම දිනය වෙනුවෙන් විශේෂ වැඩසටහන් සංවිධානය කර ඇත.

BLOOD FACTS in GENERAL

There is no substitute for human Blood.
Blood makes up about 7% of your body's weight.
An average adult has about 14 to 18 pints of Blood.
One standard unit or pint of Blood equals about two cups.
Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to all of the body.
Blood carries carbon dioxide and other waste products back to the lungs, kidneys and liver for disposal.
Blood fights against infection and helps heal wounds.
One unit of donated whole Blood is separated into components before use (red Blood cells, white Blood cells, plasma, platelets, etc.)
There are four main Blood types: A, B, AB and O.
Each Blood type is either Rh positive or negative.
The three main types of cells making up our Blood are the White Blood cells, Red Blood cells and Platelets:​
