Several top-rung Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leaders were among those killed in yesterday’s battles, according to defence sources.
While several reports circulated saying that LTTE leader V. Prabhakarn was among them, the reports remain unconfirmed. However, defence sources said that LTTE’s Pileethevan and Nadesan had contacted a foreign country around 2.00 am this morning and urged for an arrangement to surrender to a third party.
