Tsunami warning for Sri Lanka - citizens warned to evacuate costal areas ASAP

Tsunami warning is issued for the northern, eastern, southern and south-western costal area of Sri Lanka as a powerful earthquake has occurred in Sumatra Seas around 4.40 p.m Sri Lanka time.

The Metrological department warns all people to evacuate the cost and to go for safe places as soon as possible. the tidal wave (Tsunami) if caused by the earthquake will affect Sri Lankan cost, around 8.00 p.m the department further said.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey the power of the earthquake is recorded as the 7.9 Richter scale.
