TV Programme stopped midway for criticizing media bill
Higher authorities of Rupavahini (Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation) have taken steps to halt the "Ira Andurupata" (Tearing veils of darkness), a programme discussing the new regulations for TV channels issued recently, while it was being telecast.
Messrs. Uvindu Kulasuriya, journalist, Dhamma Dissanayake, lecturer and Charithe Herath had taken part in the discussion. The panel had started criticizing the new regulations for TV channels when the Rupavahini authorities had immediately intervened and had asked the programme directors to stop the programme immediately.
Usually this programme is telecast from 10.30 p.m. to 12.00 midnight but yesterday it was terminated at 11.10 p.m.
