:lol::lol::lol:hey bro
y think these elephansts dont like that
they gets all the "conforts and sapa sampath they need
and the perahara is only once a year
i dont think going for the perahara for once a year is any problem
some elephanst like raja atha has been devoted to this task...
and y think elephansts who dont have food and die of farmers in jungles are btter
never
in the dalada perahara elepnahst
they gets great food
greta freedom
and that is all bro

So you are saying its OK to stress an Animal once a year.. that too for a Buddhist procession?

"Sapa" in your terms / in our terms, we are not on the same page with Animals bro, Animals belongs in the wild... besides why choose only certain Elephant's to be at the Perahara? that's discrimination

They may die in wild without food, but that's just one side of the story, if an Elephant dies in the wild it will be food to other animals that's starving, preserving the balance of nature!

wel we dont know what elephants feels
but i bet they feel comfortable ..
when they get food
and everything
even freedom
they cna wonder in the ares given to the maliga elephanst..
so what else?
preserving nature is ok..
but y have to remmebr y cant put this like slavery
it is insane
how come it cna be
if they chained all dya and night
and not given food
that is slavery
but this is a luxurey life for those elephanst
btter than us sometimes!!!!!!!!!!

I think this was a very bad attempt to discredit Dalada Maligawa. it's very bad influence if the Elephant Calves separated from their mothers from very young age like 2 Yrs. but did you guys noticed that a NGO behind this was screaming behind trying to score some points for them. even i was upset about this situation earlier then i could clearly see that was carried out again again trying to drag Dalada Maligawa name to discredit both the temple and the Mahasangha. i'm not amazed that some people going for long shot calling carrying "Karaduwa" is a sin saying that it's not accepted what Lord Buddha said. don't you guys see something fishy going behind the scene?

Herd today that there's VET from Peradeniya university confirmed that the Calves were not beaten as per the media as announced earlier.

Ofcourse they don't treat those Elephants bad because they make lots of money out of them, most of those Elephant's are "rented" out to other processions around Sri Lanka.

How many times have you heard Elephant's in captivity killing its owners, WHY? you know they get mad when its their mating season right? Are they really free?

    hey sri lion bro
we dont have to argue about this thing
as it is very sensitive thing for some
    ok
    elakiri

Yes I understand, I dont like to talk about it either, some things are so deeply rooted in our culture that I guess its already passed the point of no return.. anyway I love elephants, they are our PRIDE!

We should be really careful (even after the war) with these NGO fellas. since they know how to touch the nerves of the Sri Lankans. this is just one example. this can happen in the future in Various forms. i guess people should be (Specially Media) careful before jump the gun on these kinda incidents. it's better to act before the damage has been done.

Do you think Lord Buddha would approve all this? just for a procession of his tooth?

True its our culture, but how do you know for sure what the Elephant feels.. do they at least measure the stress levels of the animals before or after the Perahera? (I dont know whether they really do this, if they do at least that's better)

What is this? having an innocent animal wear wires all over the body and made to walk along the streets... I've seen from my own eyes the guy poking the animal just to control it, this is also Animal Slavery if you look at it..

Then again... its my personal view.. yours might be different!
Dont get misunderstand between Buddhism and Culture.
Buddhism is very different from the cuture.
Dalanda perehera is a Cultural thing and it has mixed with hindu culture also.
