I read it over the internet when mine didn't work. I don't wanna try it and be the smart ass. Buy an LCD monitor with DVI port and see for yourself. BTW, make sure you don't mention to the technical person that you've been trying Ubuntu 7.0.4.

Well, it's at the beginning of xserver that it stops working.

Then you need to give the correct parameters to the x.org (xserver) config to work with your video hardware..

Hard work
I will see. But I'm afraid that it might burn the digial in if I make a mistake. Few people have reported that. Some people have corrected it by turning off the monitor & disconnecting it from the card; some haven't..

Then try a linux distro that has good HW support. Suggest you try Mandriva or PC LinuxOS
I guess that's the only way for me. But, I'll stick with Windows instead

Goes to show that Linux is not for everyone.

BTW trying Debian stock kernel on new hardware is NOT recommended unless you're ready to hack with the scripts and kernel.
Debian is know to give Stable platforms but their strict policies means they dont have the latest versions but the sure as hell do have the most stable versions. Which is why its better suited for servers and work stations.

Sorry mate. You know nothing. I dont wanna argue with you... May be I am wrong ok. If you dont understand the ability and the power of open sourse OS's thats you problem. But they really helped me throughout my studies in comp. Sci. for 6 years and another 4 years in the industry as well....

And coz of that I know the power of open source... Do you know what is virtual reality...???? They use more advanced graphic techniques than LCD monitors... But open source works perfectly but windows does nt...

Now, I didn't say anything about Linux in general. I said Ubuntu feisty burns the DVI port of the LCD monitors. Period!

Linux may support all those things that you say they do, but when it comes to general home use, it can't match Windows. That's what really matters to me. Not Virtual reality or something that we don't use at present in the home environment.

    UBUNTU !

Ubuntu is far more superior than vista with its speed.security, and free packages for any type of work.Although linux seems a bit behind Windows with its GUI,it is not as it seems.Because if u wanna use a better GUI u can dwnload Enlightenment which is being developed(but available).TRY IT!
