Convener of the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF), Udul Premaratne has been remanded till 12th November by the Fort Magistrate. He was detained at the office of the Nugegoda Division Superintendant of Police before being presented before court.
The Colombo Magistrate court earlier today directed the police to arrest the convener and three other university students without a warrant. Court made this order in relation to the incident where the IUSF stormed into the Higher Education Ministry premises on 14 October.
Mr. Premaratne was arrested afterward by police in front of the United National Party (UNP) headquarters–Srikotha.
අන්තර් විශ්ව විද්යාලයීය ශිෂ්ය බල මණ්ඩලයේ කැඳවුම්කරු උදුල් ප්රේමරත්න නොවැම්බර් මස 12 වන දින දක්වා රිමාන්ඩ් භාරයේ තැබීමට කොටුව මහේස්ත්රාත්වරයා නියෝග කර ඇත. අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන සිටි උදුල් ප්රේමරත්න අද(29) පස්වරුවේ අධිකරණයට ඉදිරිපත් කළ අවස්ථාවෙහි මෙම නියෝගය සිදුකර ඇති බව සඳහන්ය.
සිරිකොත එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂ මූලස්ථානය අසල දී අද දහවල් ප්රේමරත්න අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනුණි. උසස් අධ්යාපන අමාත්යාංශ භූමියට අයුතු ලෙස ඇතුළු වී එහි දේපළ වලට අලාභහානි සිදුකිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් පැහැදිලි සාක්ෂි ඇත්නම් ඔහු අත්ඩංගුවට ගැනීමට පොලිසියට බලය ඇති බව කොටුව මහේස්ත්රාත් අධිකරණය අද පෙරවරුවේ ප්රකාශ කර තිබුණි.
