Plot: Attempting to impress his ideologies on religion, relationships, and the randomness (and worthlessness) of existence, lifelong New York resident Boris Yellnikoff rants to anyone who will listen, including the audience. But when he begrudgingly allows naive Mississippi runaway Melodie St. Ann Celestine to live in his apartment, his reclusive rages give way to an unlikely friendship and Boris begins to mold the impressionable young girl?s worldly views to match his own. When it comes to love, ?whatever works? is his motto, but his already perplexed life complicates itself further when Melodie?s parents eventually track her down.

Whatever Works movie is a romantic comedy, directed by Woody Allen, about a weird man from New York, who gives up his aristocratic life for a nomadic existence. Boris Yellnikoff (Larry David), an accomplished misanthrope, fails in his suicide attempt. He then abandons his posh lifestyle to take up residence in a small place in Chinatown. One night, on his return home, he finds a young woman sprawled on his doorstep. He gives refuge to the girl, Melody (Evan Rachel Wood), for one night, and learns that she is totally unlike him. She is a pageant queen, who belongs Deep South and what she lacks in smartness, she makes up by being sweet. To everyone’s surprise, Boris ends up marrying Melody. But, the things really become more dramatic with Melody's mother (Patricia Clarkson), who is a born-again Christian and upon her arrival finds liberty instead of damnation. Soon Boris realizes that living with the unconventional people isn't as cheerful as he'd visualized it to be.
