Winter weather delays flights out of London
A SriLankan Airways flight due to arrive early this morning was delayed because of snow affecting flights out of British airports, said a spokesperson for Bandaranaike International Airport.
Flight UL 506 was due to land at 2.30 am today but was delayed until 5.30 am. The revised arrival time had not been confirmed as of midnight last night.
Gatwick and Heathrow airports have cancelled flights out of London, with snow and freezing weather gridlocking roads and causing chaos in the last weekend before Christmas.
Members of the public are advised to check exact arrival times for flights from Britain and other European cities before heading to the airport.
