A United Airlines flight bound for Munich was forced to return to Washington Dulles International Airport shortly after takeoff on Friday, July 25, following a reported engine failure.
Flight UA108, operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (registration N27901), had just departed from runway 30 at Dulles Airport and was climbing through 6,000 feet when the flight crew reported a malfunction in the aircraft’s left engine and promptly coordinated with air traffic control to initiate an emergency return.
